| OLIVE RESIDUE AND WOOD PELLETS SUPPLIED TO UK'S MAIN POWER STATIONS FOR CO-FIRING |
10 Mar 2005 |
| York based Renewable Fuels Ltd is currently supplying some of the UK's largest coal firing power stations with olive residue from Seville, Spain, and wood pellets from its Swedish parent company, Lantmannen Agroenergi AB, Europe's largest wood fuel manufacturers. |
| Successful applications of mixing coal with olive residue are currently on-going in power stations in Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. Olive Residue is a versatile, high energy fuel that, due its powder like consistency, can successfully be mixed with coal for co-firing applications. |
Premium grade Wood Pellets, made from pure virgin sawdust and shavings, are currently being successfully co-fired at Drax Power Station in Selby and Cottam Power Station in Nottinghamshire. Both power providers are committed to increasing their uptake of biomass materials for co-firing in order to reduce carbon emissions and to comply with the government's Renewables Obligation.
